A few words about myself
I am a Professor Emeritus at Tel-Aviv University, and have been teaching for forty-one years at the Department of Arabic and Islamic studies. My publications have been focused on the Qur’an, Qur’an exegesis (tafsir), and early Islamic tradition (sira and hadith).
My current research project revolves around biblical and post-biblical materials in the Quran and its exegesis (tafsir), with special emphasis on past prophets and nations (especially the Children of Israel), in their role as forerunners of Muhammad and his umma. The biblical background of the quranic and post-quranic eschatology is yet another aspect of the research.
